Welcome to my personal writing experiment. My end goal for this is to discover if writing is as much of a personal passion of mine as I tell myself it is.
Why go through the trouble of starting a blog just to discover if you actually like it?
I was asking myself this exact question while I furiously argued with my screen as I tried to add an image in the correct spot on the page; among other reasons, I want to challenge myself. I have warmed up to the notion of “learning in public” through the work of people like Anne-Laure Le Cunff, and Ali Abdaal, who in turn have been influenced by authors like Austin Kleon. The idea of putting your work out under the scrutiny of the World Wide Web is a daunting one, especially if you are self-conscious of your work. Our Ideas seem great and intellectually robust until we try to write them down. The feedback loop that happens in your brain when you attempt to write, analyze your writing, notice it’s not as good as you thought, and intentionally try to stoke the embers of your creativity to improve, is exactly what will improve your writing.
